Eligibility & Fit

Who can join LOI?+
LOI is open to founders aged 15–30 with a Canadian connection — Canadian citizen or PR, residing in Canada for at least one year, or operating a business with significant ties to Canada. You need to be actively working on a venture at any stage, in any sector.
Do I need to already have a startup?+
Nope. Whether you’re exploring an idea or running a growing venture, there’s a place for you at LOI. Launch It is specifically designed for founders at the idea stage. Labs and Boost are for founders who are already building and scaling.
What kind of ventures do you accept?+
All kinds. Tech, CPG, social impact, food, climate, fashion, fintech — LOI is sector-agnostic and business model agnostic. If you’re solving a real problem and building something people need, you’re a fit. We support for-profit, non-profit, and everything in between.
Do I have to be in a program to be part of LOI?+
Not at all. The LOI community is open to any eligible founder regardless of program participation. You can join the community directly to access the Slack, Venture Package, events, and 2,000+ founders across Canada.

Programs

What’s the difference between Launch It, Labs, and Boost?+
Launch It is self-paced and for founders exploring or validating an idea — six guided levels, no cohort schedule, open year-round.

Labs is LOI’s flagship 12-week accelerator for founders with an MVP who are seeking product–market fit. It runs in Fall and Winter cohorts with 50–60 ventures.

Boost is a 12-month residency for founders who’ve found product–market fit and are ready to scale. Six Deep Dive Days per year, founder accountability groups, and national expert access.
How do I know which program is right for me?+

How long are the programs?+
Launch It: Fully self-paced — start and finish on your own timeline, any time of year.
Labs: 12 weeks. Fall and Winter cohorts, with 2–4 live sessions per week.
Boost: 12 months. Six virtual Deep Dive Days per year plus optional in-person events and ongoing accountability groups.
Are programs online or in-person?+
All LOI programs are delivered virtually, so they’re accessible to founders in every province and territory — no postal code filter. Boost includes optional in-person events and meetups for founders who want face-time with their cohort.
Can I do more than one LOI program?+
Yes — and many founders do. The programs are designed as a journey. Start with Launch It, move into Labs, then apply for Boost. 47% of Boost founders are returning LOI alumni who progressed through earlier programs.
03

How to Apply

How do I apply to a program?+
Go to the program page and click the apply button. Each program has its own application — they’re straightforward, no jargon or 20-page forms. Launch It is open year-round. Labs and Boost have specific cohort windows.
When do applications open?+
Launch It: Always open — apply any time.
Labs 17 (Fall 2026): Applications open July 2026. Join the waitlist to be notified first.
Boost Cohort 7 (2027): Applications opening in early 2027. Join the waitlist.
What does the selection process look like?+
For Labs and Boost, the LOI team reviews all applications and selects founders based on traction, fit, and readiness for the program stage. Labs has an Early Acceptance track for founders who apply ahead of the deadline. You’ll hear back within a few weeks of the deadline.
04

Cost, Equity & IP

Does LOI cost anything?+
LOI is 100% free. No tuition, no hidden fees, no fine print. Labs requires a $120 refundable deposit (returned when you complete the program) and Boost requires a $250 refundable deposit — these exist to confirm commitment, not to generate revenue.
Does LOI take equity in my company?+
Never. You keep 100% ownership of what you build. LOI doesn’t take equity, warrants, or any stake in your company. We’re here to back you, not buy into you.
Do I give up my intellectual property?+
No. Your ideas, your code, your brand — they’re yours. LOI doesn’t claim ownership or rights over anything you build while in the program.
Does LOI invest in startups?+
LOI doesn’t write investment cheques directly, but we actively connect founders to the right investors, grant programs, and non-dilutive funding sources. Labs and Boost Demo Days have facilitated $10M+ in funding interest to date.
Why is it free? What’s the catch?+
There isn’t one. LOI is a registered Canadian charity supported by national partners who believe the next generation of builders deserves a real shot. Removing cost as a barrier is a core part of our mission. Your job is to build — ours is to make sure you can.

Community & Perks

What is the LOI community and how do I join?+
The LOI community is our national Slack network of 2,000+ young Canadian founders. It’s open to any eligible founder regardless of program status. Join the community here. You’ll get access to the Slack, the Venture Package, curated ecosystem opportunities, and priority access to LOI events.
What is the Venture Package?+
The LOI Venture Package is $100,000+ in partner perks, credits, and discounts available to every LOI founder. It includes things like $10,000 in AWS credits, up to 90% off HubSpot, free Hootsuite access, two years of complimentary Notion, and much more. You unlock this as part of any program or community membership.
